Full course description

Betsy Maxfield joined Sporting Kansas City in 2009 and has held several roles within the organization for the last nine years. She began as an Academy administrator before transitioning to the business side in 2012, where she increased the reach of Sporting KC Youth Soccer through the strategic development of the Sporting Club Network, Academy Affiliate Program and other youth-centered initiatives.

In 2017, Maxfield returned to the technical side as Director, Player Care, assisting more than 160 players across three entities — Sporting KC, Swope Park Rangers and the Sporting KC Academy — with all off-the-field needs while maintaining her role as Vice President of Youth Soccer.

Working with all three entities on a daily basis, Maxfield aims to help players remove all distractions that could affect performance on the field. She helps players handle academic challenges, housing arrangements, family situations and a variety of other obstacles that may arise so that they can perform to the best of their ability as athletes.

Maxfield, who played four years of college soccer as a goalkeeper at the University of Kansas, holds a USSF C License. Her previous work experience includes stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, the U.S. Soccer Federation and the David Beckham Academy. Maxfield lives in Kansas City, Missouri with her husband, Ryan, and her two daughters, Fiona and Francesca.
